The Environmental Stewardship Program put in place by Les amis de la montagne in 2007 was built upon the following principals: profound knowledge of Mount Royal's ecosystem; 25 years of experience coordinating the activities of volunteers and involving the general population; and establishing long-term partnerships with the Ville de Montréal and the great institutional properties on the mountain. But first and foremost, the ESP responds to a need, that of Montrealers' desire to become involved in the protection of the environment by taking concrete measures to ensure the future of the planet by taking action locally.
Objectives:
Support the objectives of the Mount Royal Protection and Enhancement Plan aimed at conserving the mountain's biodiversity and augmenting the biomass of the territory's vegetation;
Involve the community in the protection of the mountain's natural heritage;
Make the mountain's natural heritage better known and provide participants with the tools needed to understand the mountain's conservation challenges.
