Services at Smith House

As well as being the headquarters of Les amis de la montagne, Smith House is the entry point to Mount Royal Park. A heritage building constructed in 1858, Smith House has become an education, exchange and cooperation centre devoted to the conservation of Mount Royal’s environment.

Open year-round, visitors can take advantage of a reception service in the boutique for information about activities and services offered in Mount Royal Park. The public is invited to share observations, comments, or suggestions. Contact us: 514 843-8240, ext. 0 or

The nature-boutique dedicated to Mount Royal offers original souvenirs, specialised publications, maps and cards, seasonal clothing and accesories, as well as a selection of toys and educative books for children.

The Café des Amis offers hot meals and home-made soups, grilled sandwiches, deserts and cupcakes, beer and wine, as well as comforting hot beverages (Santropol coffees, organic and fair trade Camino hot chocolates and Camélia Sinensis teas). Breakfast is now served every morning until 11 a.m. An outdoor terrace is open from mid-May to mid-October.

The permanent exhibition: Mount Royal, A Territory to Discover, is accessible free of charge. The exhibit traces the history, natural environment and associated conservation issues concerning Mount Royal.
