MONT ROYAL BIRD INVENTORY, 7th edition
Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
About forty amateur ornithologists will volunteer their morning to continue the bird inventory begun in May 2006 on the Mont Royal territory.

"LA MONTAGNE EN IMAGES" PHOTO CONTEST – 2013 edition
Presented by the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and organized by Les amis de la montagne to showcase the rich and varied heritage of Mont Royal through photography. The categories: Nature, Art and buildings, Light and landscape, A mountain for all and Youth perspective. The winning photographs will be on exhibit at the Café des Amis at Maison Smith as of October 2013 and showcased on Les amis de la montagne’s website.

“LES DIMANCHES EN MUSIQUE” AT THE CHALET DU MONT-ROYAL
In collaboration with the Ville de Montréal and TD Bank Group, principal partner.
Sunday, May 26, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, under the musical direction of Gilbert Patenaude, will present an enchanting concert to mark the anniversary of the creation of Mont-Royal Park in 1876. This youth choir will pay a vibrant tribute to spring, the sea and humanity.
Participants may join a bilingual guided visit of the Chalet following the performance, relating the buildings’ history, architecture and works of art.

GUIDED VISIT OF THE COLLÈGE NOTRE-DAME: A GREAT SCHOOL IN AN EXCEPTIONAL ENVIRONMENT
Tuesday, May 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
You are cordially invited to join a visit of the Collège Notre-Dame in order to learn more about this important learning establishment founded in 1869 and located within the Mont Royal heritage site. Led by Mr. Lotfi Tazi, director general of the school, the visit will allow participants to enter the campus buildings while discovering the rich history of the institution, and in the context of the current development plan, learn more about the school’s future projects.

GUIDED WALK: "BIRD-WATCHING IN THE OAK STAND OF MONT ROYAL"
Sunday, May 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
As part of the Mont Royal bird inventory, join an ornithologist from Les amis on this exploration of birds in the heart of the centenary oak stand at the summit of Mont Royal. Bring your binoculars!

The Chalet du Mont-Royal, Maison Smith and Beaver Lake Pavilion: these exceptional buildings are each an example of their time. During this conference, you will discover their unique architecture, their different uses over time, the artisans who conceived and redesigned them and the future projects in store for these buildings.

GUIDED WALK: “THE BUILT HERITAGE OF MONT-ROYAL PARK
Saturday, May 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
While familiar to most park visitors, Mont-Royal Park’s service buildings and built landscapes have evolved since the creation of the park in 1876. Les amis de la montagne will introduce participants to the park’s wealth of built heritage and its development over time, while addressing some changes still to come.

STIMULATING PROJECTS IN SUPPORT OF URBAN BIODIVERSITY AT THE UNIVERSITÉ DE MONTRÉAL
Saturday, May 18, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Behind the Roger-Gaudry Pavilion, in the shadow of the tower, you will find a tree nursery planted by hundreds of young Montrealers, as well as a variety of urban agriculture and apiculture projects lead by academics. Come and discover these inspiring projects and the passionate people behind them.
The tree nursury project, “Semences d’avenir pour le mont Royal” is the initiative of Les amis de la montagne, the Société de verdissement du Montréal métropolitain (SOVERDI) and Université de Montréal, in collaboration with the Ville de Montréal, thanks to the financial support of Resolute Forest Products, the Conférence régionale des élus de Montréal, Mr. Raymond Bachand, MP for Outremont and Evergreen. The urban agriculture and apiculture projects are organized by P.A.U.S.E.

CONFERENCE: URBAN BIODIVERSITY: A VALUE TO APPRECIATE”
Tuesday, May 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Les amis de la montagne will host a variety of organisations to present their urban biodiversity projects during this conference. Come and visit the kiosks and discover Les amis de la montagne’s projects on the subject.
The conference is organised by the Ville de Montréal and the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, in collaboration with ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.

  • Exhibition, “The hidden face of the mountain”. Famous symbol of our city, Mont Royal dominates the Montreal landscape. The mountain’s northern flank, for its part, still has secrets to reveal. This exhibition allows us to discover the treasures and mysteries of its history, cultural and natural heritage. This exhibition is held as part of the Université de Montréal’s anniversary celebrations, in collaboration with the Centre d’histoire de Montréal, from May 17, 2013, to April 13, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday.
