Montréal, le 24 mai 2017 – En ce jour anniversaire de la création du parc du Mont-Royal et dans le cadre du 375e anniversaire de la Ville de Montréal, M. Denis Coderre, maire de Montréal, et M. Peter A. Howlett, C.M., président des Amis de la montagne, ont eu le plaisir de décerner le Prix du Mont-Royal aux Religieuses Hospitalières de Saint-Joseph qui, depuis 150 ans, ont investi et fait vivre une propriété remarquable située sur le flanc est du mont Royal. Ce lieu est d’ailleurs reconnu pour son exceptionnelle valeur culturelle et pour la qualité de ses éléments construits et paysagers.

During May: Mount Royal Month, Les amis de la montagne and its partners invite Montrealers to rekindle ties with Mount Royal with an array of activities!
On May 27, the second edition of the eco-friendly race Changer le monde avec Équiterre will take place on the mountain.
Les amis de la montagne is launching a vast citizens’ campaign entitled “We love our Mountain. Let’s support UNESCO status for Mount Royal.” in an effort to gather at least 30,000 signatures supporting the bid for Mount Royal’s inclusion on Canada’s 2017 Tentative List for World Heritage Sites. This is the first step towards having the place we affectionately call “the Mountain” designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Les amis de la montagne benefits from the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers involved in projects protecting and enhancing Mount Royal. Every year, Les amis, in collaboration with Manulife, salutes this effort by recognizing one person’s outstanding service.

The 20th edition of the Tuques Bleues benefit event brought together close to 400 snowshoers and 75 runners on a snow-laden Mount Royal last Thursday evening, February 16.
Les amis de la montagne is pleased to offer a unique day camp in Mount Royal Park. Children from 5 to 10 years of age are invited to spend one or two weeks discovering the emblematic mountain adjacent to downtown Montreal. They will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, immersed in a unique natural setting, under the supervision of qualified educators.

On Friday and Saturday evenings through March 4, Les amis de la montagne invites you to go on a snowshoe excursion at nightfall to discover or rediscover the wonders of Mount Royal Park.
The first phase of an important landscaping project designed by the City of Montréal, undertaken to build the missing part of a footpath linking the park’s main staircase to the Kondiaronk Belvedere and the Mount Royal Chalet, is now complete.
