Les amis renew their commitment to the Montréal Community Sustainable Development Plan 2010-2015

2010-11-04

Les amis de la montagne are proud to renew their partnership with the Ville de Montréal in the implementation of the Montréal Community Sustainable Development Plan 2010-2015.

Following from Montréal’s first strategic plan for sustainable development (2005-2009), the 2010-2015 Plan will continue to pursue the initiatives undertaken earlier while proposing new actions designed to orient planning exercises, policies and programs, as they involve major projects in the city. A new social component has been included in the Plan with additional efforts to promote solidarity, equity and succession planning.

The 2010-2015 Plan proposes nine objectives with 37 actions, in addition to the new social component. As part of the launch of this new Plan announced on October 12th, Les amis de la montagne have committed to the following actions:
02 - Reduce dependence on cars
15 - Contribute to greening and the reduction of heat islands
22 - Implement measures for reduction at the source
24 - Hold ecologically responsible events
26 - Stimulate demand for green technology, products and services
30 - Participate in training activities on environmental programs and certification
31 - Establish a collaborative framework to protect and promote lands with high biodiversity
32 - Make use of green infrastructures and ecological services in the city
33 - Disseminate information about biodiversity to raise awareness and encourage its protection by the public
34 - Reinforce the environmentally friendly management of the city’s green space
36 - Demonstrate equity
37 - Handle succession planning
