SPRING BREAK ACTIVITIES ON MOUNT ROYAL FROM FEBRUARY 28 TO MARCH 5, 2011

No need to travel far from the city during Spring Break to practice your favourite family outdoor activities. Mount Royal is the destination of choice!

  


FAMILY SNOWSHOEING AND TUBING
Families get moving with Les amis de la montagne! Strap on a pair of our snowshoes and follow an environmental educator along the flanks of the mountain in search of animal tracks and bird songs. Spend the rest of the afternoon sliding on our specially designated inner-tubes tracks. Children must be 8 years-old.

  • Daily during Spring Break from February 28 to March 5, 2011.
  • Departure from Maison Smith, in Parc du Mont-Royal, 1260 Chemin Remembrance.
  • Guided snowshoe walk from 1:30-3 p.m., followed by tubing.
  • Package: 1 parent + 1 child = $20, 2nd parent + $8, each additional child $6 (maximum 4 children per adult).

THE BIRDS OF MOUNT ROYAL, FOR ALL AGES
For an more zen-like activity, join an environmental educator from Les amis for a guided visit of the 7 feeder stations located on the circular summit path to spot the cardinals, juncos, woodpeckers and other species that frequent the feeders in winter. Activity offered on Saturday, March 5 and 12, 2011, from 1-3 p.m. No reservations are needed, just arrive no later than 1 p.m. at Maison Smith in Parc du Mont-Royal, 1260 Chemin Remembrance.

NORDIC KICKSLED
Try out this traditional Scandinavian sport that is both environmentally and family friendly, already adopted by millions of Europeans! Whether solo or in tandem with your child seated in the front of the kicksled, enjoy the pleasures of winter. The technique can be learned within minutes and ... you're off! Nordic kicksleds are available at Les amis’ rental counter located on the ground floor of the Lac aux Castors pavilion at a cost of $15 for 2 hours.
