Appeal refused for the former convent of the Sœurs des Saints Noms de Jésus et de Marie

Last March 15, the Supreme Court of Canada decided that it will not hear a plea from citizens against the Ville de Montréal. The Université de Montréal may now put the building up for sale on the residential market. Members of the Rassemblement pour le 1420 Mont-Royal had registered their case on appeal against the Ville de Montréal and the Université de Montréal concerning the sale of the former convent of the Sœurs des Saints Noms de Jésus et de Marie. The members felt that the City should not have granted residential zoning to the building located at 1420, boulevard du Mont-Royal, in Outremont, as requested by the Université de Montréal.

Les amis de la montagne are following this situation closely, as with the other institutional properties located on the southern flank of Mount Royal, and of which the future vocations are a major concern for the community.
