It is with deep sadness that Les amis de la montagne joins the Montreal community in mourning the loss of Marcel Côté, chairman of the organization’s strategic planning committee, member of the Board of Directors and Governor extraordinaire. Mr. Côté held a deep fondness for Mount Royal and was one of Les amis de la montagne’s strongest advocates.

“Marcel Côté’s genius behind the founding of SECOR is most certainly one of Canada’s finest success stories. A renaissance man with broad interests in business, politics and culture, his service to Les amis de la montagne was distinguished by his sharp intellect, power of expression and provocative directness, traits that helped advance the Mount Royal cause most admirably. It is a great tribute to Marcel’s passion for and dedication to our city that following his electoral campaign, he became a respected advisor to the Mayoral incumbent. Marcel was a great ally of the mountain and a great asset to Montreal. He will be truly missed,” said Peter A. Howlett, President, Les amis de la montagne.

Les amis de la montagne extends heartfelt condolences to Louise Drouin, as well as other members of Mr. Côté’s family, his friends and colleagues.
