Update on the future of the mountain's excess buildings

UPDATE ON THE FUTURE OF THE MOUNTAIN’S EXCESS INSTITUTIONAL BUILDINGS

Follow-up to the Mount Royal Summit: Large institutional properties and governance

The institutions on the mountain constitute an ensemble of public buildings and sites that reinforce the iconic and symbolic value of the mountain, as well as its restorative character, located in our midst.

The imminent departure of the CHUM and MUHC hospitals from their mountain buildings poses an enormous challenge for Mount Royal. The situation calls for exceptional planning measures.

Les amis de la montagne’s next public forum will provide an update on the future of the excess hospital buildings on Mount Royal, with the participation of the following guests:

  • Alex Norris, city councillor for Jeanne-Mance: the Plateau-Mont-Royal’s vision for the future of the Hôtel-Dieu hospital
  • Olivier Marcil, vice-principal, communications and external relations, McGill University: a future project for the Royal Victoria Hospital
  • Marie-Odile Trépanier, honorary professor, Institut de l’Urbanisme, Université de Montréal: an inspiring case study for Mount Royal – San Francisco’s Presidio Trust

We invite you to join us to share your thoughts and vision for the future of the hospital sites and buildings.
