Les amis de la montagne launch the 2nd edition of the free concert series

Les amis de la montagne are preparing an incredible gift for visitors to Mount Royal! Six free concerts offered from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on one Sunday per month from May to October will shake the walls of the majestic Chalet du Mont-Royal atop the mountain.

This series of concerts aims to promote the talent of young music students hailing from musical institutions on the flanks of the mountain and wishes to re-establish the musical tradition of this exceptional site. The concerts reflect the Ville de Montréal’s desire to offer cultural programming that highlights the Chalet and its surroundings, near the lookout.

On May 18th, the series kicks off with “Baroque Spring”, featuring the soprano Rebecca Dowd, accompanied by a baroque trio from the McGill University Schulich School of Music, a concert full of flight and fancy!

The soprano Natalie Choquette has agreed to take the concert series under her wing by acting as Les amis de la montagne’s spokesperson.

“I’m very proud to invite you to a great wedding on the summit of OUR mountain. The Chalet du Mont-Royal will put on its Sunday best to celebrate the marriage of Nature with Music! Your presence in very large numbers will be the finest gift! Rain or shine, I look forward to seeing you, it’s going to be outstanding!” said Natalie Choquette, great admirer of the “future newlyweds”.

She will host the launch concert on May 18 in the presence of Manon Gauthier, member of the Executive Committee of the Ville de Montréal, responsible for culture, heritage, design, Space for Life, the status of women and Bureau de la mode.

Following each concert, Les amis de la montagne will provide a guided visit of the Chalet, relating its history, architecture and decorative paintings.

Produced by Les amis de la montagne in collaboration with the Ville de Montréal, the concert series is also made possible thanks to the support of the TD Bank, principal partner, and Journal Métro, media partner.

We invite you to watch the video where Natalie Choquette introduces the “Dimanches en musique au Chalet du Mont-Royal” concert series in her own inimitable style!
