Immerse yourself in the winter of the 19th Century on Mount Royal, every weekend until March 9, at Maison Smith.

Did you know that Mount Royal hosted the first Ski Championship in Canada and the first Ski Club in North America? That the Toboggan slides of the Montreal Toboggan and Ski Club was a genuine international attraction as of 1884?

Les amis de la montagne invite you to immerse yourself in the winter of the 19th Century on Mount Royal, every weekend from January 11 to March 9, at Maison Smith. Discover the rich history of winter sports on the mountain, explore the forest on snowshoes and relive the traditions and carnivals of the past. Enjoy free animations for the whole family, exhibits of historic photos and illustrations, a guided walk and obstacle course on snowshoes and snow games. Attend  demonstrations of traditional snowshoe making and sashweaving by skilled artisans.

Discover the various facets of winter on Mount Royal from yesterday to present day. Free animation for the whole family on the mountain’s history, fauna and flora in the exhibition room or outside Maison Smith. Activities offered in French.

SNOWSHOE GUIDED WALK “LIVING IN THE FOREST IN WINTER”

Join this guided snowshoe walk on the trail of animal tracks and learn the survival secrets of Amerindians and the “coureurs des bois”. An activity for the whole family offered in collaboration with YMCA Camp Kanawana.
