Sunday, August 9, Mount Royal Chalet will resonate with melodies of Mozart, Respighi, Chausson and Barber, performed by emerging young singers accompanied by the Turovsky String Quartet and a pianist.

The singers were selected from among 50 young singers representing 11 countries who came to improve their skills with teachers from the world’s leading opera houses and teaching institutions, as part of the Montreal’s Vocal Arts Festival presented by the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute.

Ensembles will perform under the direction of Joan Dornemann, Artistic Director and coach at the Metropolitan Opera.

This series of concerts was designed and produced by Les amis de la montagne, with
the collaboration of the Ville de Montréal. It was made possible thanks to
the support of TD Bank Group.

Musical Sundays AT Mount Royal Chalet

For a third consecutive year, Les amis de la montagne invites Mount Royal visitors and music lovers alike to enjoy a delightful series of musical Sunday afternoons. Keeping the great musical tradition of this Beaux-Arts chalet alive, the series Les dimanches en musique au Chalet du Mont-Royal showcases the talent of young musicians trained for the most part in musical institutions established on the mountain.

The 2015 season spans a variety of musical genres, from song and famous classical airs to flamenco and jazz rhythms, including vibrant melodic sweeps of string and recorder ensembles. Concerts are presented monthly, May through October, in the stunning surroundings of the Mount Royal Chalet.

After each concert, concertgoers are invited to discover Mount Royal Chalet – its history, architecture and paintings – in a guided tour offered by Les Amis de la montagne.

Admission is free. No reservations required.
