The Café des Amis opens at the Beaver Lake Pavilion

2015-12-18

The City of Montréal and Les amis de la montagne are proud to announce the opening of a second Café des Amis at Beaver Lake Pavilion on December 19.

The opening is the latest development in a longstanding partnership between Les amis and the City. For close to 30 years, the non-for-profit organisation and the City have enjoyed a fruitful alliance in which they team up to achieve their respective missions of serving the public and protecting and enhancing Mount Royal Park.

Les amis de la montagne has earned its reputation in restaurant services on the mountain. Every year, tens of thousands of Montrealers and visitors make a stop at Smith House for a gourmet break at the Café des Amis. Commissioned by the City of Montréal, a 2014 surveyon food services in Mount Royal Park indicated a very high level of satisfaction with the quality of the fare at Café des Amis.

Starting Saturday, December 19, Mount Royal’s skaters, hikers, skiers, snowshoers and other visitors can enjoy the same quality services at the brand-new Café des Amis at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. In the stunning decor of the Pavilion – an iconic 1950s building, one of the first examples of post-war architectural modernity in Quebec – the public can choose from homemade soups, muffins and cakes, and a fine selection of fair trade and organic coffees, teas and hot chocolate. Over the coming weeks, the Café menu will be developed to include hot main courses, sandwiches and salads.

As agreed with the City of Montréal, all revenues generated by the Café will be reinvested for the benefit of Mount Royal and its users.

The Café des Amis at Beaver Lake Pavilion is located at 2000, chemin Remembrance, Montréal H3H 1X2. Telephone: 514 284.0111. Opening hours: 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
