ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION
"Le mont Royal et la consultation publique : des leçons pour une approche stratégique de développement de nos villes"

Les amis de la montagne and the University of Public Administration (ENAP - École nationale d'administration publique) are pleased to invite you to attend a round table discussion on the importance of public consultation in the city development strategies, with the case study of Mount Royal as the starting point.

Mount Royal is an important iconic place for the Montreal community. Its safeguard and enhancement are of primary concern to Montrealers who have always come together to defend it. Despite this sustained civic engagement, Mount Royal remains subject to development pressures of all kinds. Currently, the re-use of surplus hospital buildings is a major challenge for Mount Royal and the City. What are the potential and the role of public consultation in the planning and management of Mount Royal? What is the scope of a public consultation? How do we ensure optimal representation and what emerging tools can improve the consultation process?

Chaired by Louise Roy, past president, Office de consultation publique de Montréal, this panel will include:

  • Nancy Bouchard, PhD student in the analysis and management of public policies, École nationale d'administration publique
  • Louis Delaoustre, Co-founder, Potloc
  • Richard Ryan, City Councilor Mile-End District
  • Dominique Ollivier, President, Office de consultation publique de Montréal
  • Cameron Charlebois, president, GPMC Montréal inc - Urban Development Strategies

The roundtable will open with a word of welcome by Gérard Divay, Professor, University of Public Administration (ENAP).

This round table discussion will be held in French. It will be followed by a friendly drink.

Date: Thursday, May 21

Time: 5 to 7 pm

Location: École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP), 4750, av. Henri-Julien, ground level auditorium.
