Montréal, June 27, 2016 – From June to October, Les amis de la montagne invites Montrealers to enjoy a wide range of recreational activities during their time in Mount Royal Park. Designed to enhance awareness of the mountain, its green spaces and its secrets, Les amis de la montagne offers activities for all ages and every taste, including a film screening, guided tours and mountain photowalks, and classical and jazz concerts.

1. Outdoor Film Screening: A Summer Love

On July 9 at 8 :30 pm, at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, Les amis de la montagne and the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) invite Montrealers to an outdoor and free screening of the film A Summer love (Un amour d’été), followed by a talk with the filmmaker Jean-François Lesage. 2. Boating on Beaver Lake

This summer, Les amis de la montagne invites you to enjoy Beaver Lake differently... in a rowboat or having fun with a remote controlled sailboat! A perfect activity for a special date, or for a good time with friends and family! (Boat Rentals $)

3. Attend a Classical or Jazz Music Concert at the Mount Royal Chalet

From June to October, music lovers and Mount Royal visitors are invited to attend six free concerts to discover the passion and virtuosity of Montreal’s most promising young talents in the majestic Mount Royal Chalet. After each concert, a guided tour of the Chalet will be offered either in French or English. (Free)

4. Volunteer Some Time for the Environmental Conservation of the Mountain

Every Saturday until October 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Montrealers over 12 years of age are invited to get involved and help protect Mount Royal’s natural habitats by participating in conservation activities organised by Les amis de la montagne. Weekly tasks will vary over the season. (Free)

5. Enjoy a Leisurely Snack or Meal at One of the Café des Amis’ Two Outdoor Terraces

The Café des Amis now operates in two different locations in Mount Royal Park – at Smith House and Beaver Lake Pavilion, where you can enjoy a full meal, a snack or just an ice cream on one of two beautiful outdoor terraces in stunning decors. A new bistro menu is now offered at the Beaver Lake Pavilion.

6. Take part in a Photo Competition and Win a Great Prize

Until October 9, 2016, Mount Royal visitors can participate in Les Amis’ photo competition La montagne en images, which aims to capture the richness of Mount Royal through photography. Prizes include a two-night package at the Montreal Sheraton Centre and two nights in a Hekipia or Huttopia tent in a SÉPAQ park!

On Sunday, September 18, October 16 or October 23, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., take a 15 km guided hike through the forest and urban environment spanning the entire Mount Royal territory. On Sunday, September 11 or Sunday, October 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., go on a fascinating trek that follows the watercourses flowing from the mountain to the river, a unique opportunity to understand the historical, geographical and cultural ties between Mount Royal and the St. Lawrence River.
