2016-05-24

The STM and Les amis de la montagne fulfill a commitment made at Je fais Montréal.

On May 24, 2016, to mark the 140th anniversary of Mount Royal Park, the Société des Transports de Montréal (STM) launched a new generation of hybrid buses on line 11 – Mount Royal Park.

The inaugural trip, from Mount Royal metro station up to Smith House by way of Camillien-House Way, signaled the achievement of a commitment made by the STM and Les amis de la montagne at Je fais Montréal. It was attended by Denis Coderre, Mayor of the City of Montreal, Mr. Philippe Schnobb, Chairman of the STM Board of Directors, Mr. Peter A. Howlett, President of Les amis de la montagne, and Mr. Raymond Leduc, president of Nova Bus and Prevost as well as Mr. Aref Salem, Executive ©ommittee member of the City of Montreal and responsible for transport.

"The project carried out by the STM, in collaboration with Les amis de la montagne, is an enhancement to Mount Royal and improves the City’s record of achievement in matters relating to the environment. It is an illustration of the value of Je fais Montréal", said Mr. Coderre.

Outfitted with bus murals and interior posters highlighting the iconic attractions of Mount Royal, the new busses offer a unique experience to public transit users. The delivery of 27 more hybrid buses in 2016 will enable the STM to improve its service as well as the comfort of public transit users.
