19TH Edition of the Tuques Bleues Celebration

A Gastronomic and Sporting Benefit Event Hosted by Les amis de la montagne

Montreal, January 28, 2016- Les amis de la montagne is pleased to invite snowshoers and all mountain lovers to the 19th edition of the Tuques Bleues Celebration benefit event presented by Manulife, on Thursday, February 18 starting at 5:45 p.m., on Mount Royal.

Inspired by the snowshoe hikes of the Montreal Snowshoe Clubdating back to 1840, the Tuques Bleues Celebration brings together close to 600 people for a 2.5 km magical moonlit adventure right up to

Mount Royal’s illuminated cross. After the race, snowshoers will be welcomed to the Mount Royal Chalet where, to the groove of Dj Pocket, they can enjoy a gourmet meal featuring revisited classics made in part with localand organic products.

The Tuques Bleues Celebration is not only a fundraiser but also an official sporting event. While many participants choose to climb the mountain at their own pace, others – either individuals or teams – can test themselves alongside seasoned athletes in a timed snowshoe race for a chance to win medals or a trophy.

Organized every year as part of the festivities of Montréal en Lumière, the event is expected to generate some $250,000. Proceeds will be invested in educational, enhancement and conservation programmes for the benefit of Mount Royal.

You can register or make a donation to Les amis de la montagne at For each $250 ticket, which includes snowshoes, gastronomic buffet, drinks and a blue tuque, a charitable donation tax receipt of $125 will be issued.
