The benefit luncheon Chapeau mont Royal raises 180,000$ for Les amis de la montagne

Montreal, June 20, 2016– Last June 16, close to 450 guests wore their finest hat for a great cause at the 3rd edition of the benefit luncheon Chapeau mont Royal, organised by Les amis de la montagne. The event raised $180,000 in support of Les amis educational and conservation programs on Mount Royal.

Held under the honorary presidency of Caroline Codsi, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Eastern Canada, Cira Medical Services and Founding President, La Gouvernance au Féminin, the fundraiser owes its success to the support of important partners, a dedicated women committee and many Montrealers who hold the sustainability of Mount Royal dear to their hearts.

Guests at Chapeau mont Royal enjoyed a red carpet experience on the Mount Royal Chalet lookout, a glorious blue sky cocktail, and a gastronomic meal by Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. Prizes were generously offered by the Ritz Carlton Montreal and La Maison Ishi.

The 3rd edition of Chapeau mont Royal was also a chance to celebrate the 140th anniversary of Mount Royal Park, and the 30th anniversary of Les amis de la montagne. The organization is pleased to note that Montrealers remain as committed as ever to protecting their mountain through contributions to Les amis de la montagne.

This fundraiser draws its inspiration from the prestigious Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon organised by the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy in New York. In fact, Central Park and Mount Royal share a unique legacy left by the celebrated landscape architect who designed both parks.

Les amis de la montagne wishes to express its profound gratitude to the Honorary President Caroline Codsi, to the Organising Committee Co-Presidents,Mary Bruns Creighton, Judith Kavanagh, Carole Labelle Molson and Kathryn Lund Drummond, and the Honorary Presidents of previous editions, Julie Godin, Executive Vice-President, Human Resources and Strategic Planning, CGI and Françoise F.
