Summer Day Camp in Mount Royal Park: Registration Will Open on March 23, 2017

Les amis de la montagne is pleased to offer a unique day camp in Mount Royal Park. Children from 5 to 10 years of age are invited to spend one or two weeks discovering the emblematic mountain adjacent to downtown Montreal. They will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, immersed in a unique natural setting, under the supervision of qualified educators.

Les amis de la montagne’s summer day camp is…

  • Playing under the ancient oaks of the summit;
  • Walking in the forest to discover the diversity of its flora;
  • Exploring the natural environment through a magnifying glass or looking for animals with binoculars;
  • Travelling in time to discover the mountain’s first inhabitants and those who have built important private and institutional properties on Mount Royal;
  • An introduction to the natural sciences, architecture and the arts;
  • Sharing a stimulating experience with one’s peers;
  • Living a week in nature, in the heart of the city, with qualified and committed educators.

 

 

Important information

Schedule:Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm

Extended Day Program: From 8-9 am and 4-6 pm

Venue: The camp will be based in Mount Royal Park, at either the Beaver Lake Pavilion or at the Smith House.

Price for one week of camp: $210

Price for the extended day programme: $45 per week or $10 per day if paid before June 1st, otherwise $50 per week and $12 per day if paid after June 1st.

Language: The camp is offered in French. 

Registration: Online registration will open at 9 a.m. on March 23rd, 2017. This page will be updated with a link to the online registration system.

The camp themes

Two alternating themes are offered per age group. Children can participate for one or two weeks, but can attend each theme only once.

 Les renards (The Foxes)

For children who will normally be completing their kindergarten at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. 
Therefore, they were 5 years old on September 30, 2016. No exceptions.

The secrets of the forest

While walking along a forest path, you hear a rustling of leaves. Is it the wind? What if it was something else? Nature’s magic surrounds us; come discover its secrets.

  • Week 1 : June 26 to 30
  • Week 3 : July 10 to 14
  • Week 5 : July 24 to 28
  • Week 7 : August 7 to 11

Legends from another time

Where do the Lenusic and the fairy Aralia hide? Do they protect the mountain? Discover the legends of Mount Royal’s fantastical forest.

  • Week 2 : July 3 to 7
  • Week 4 : July 17 to 21
  • Week 6 : July 31 to August 4
  • Week 8 : August 14 to 18

Les salamandres (The Salamanders)

For children who will normally be completing their first or second grade at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.
Therefore, they were 6 or 7 years old on September 30, 2016. No exceptions.

The mountain’s inhabitants

Observe and explore Mount Royal’s territory. Discover the forest and its inhabitants; by the end of the week you will be an experienced naturalist!

  • Week 1 : June 26 to 30
  • Week 3 : July 10 to 14
  • Week 5 : July 24 to 28
  • Week 7 : August 7 to 11

A mountain of adventures

Why is there a cross on the summit? Play games and hike in the forest while learning about those who have left their mark on the mountain’s history.

  • Week 2 : July 3 to 7
  • Week 4 : July 17 to 21
  • Week 6 : July 31 to August 4
  • Week 8 : August 14 to 18

Les faucons (The Falcons)

For children who will normally be completing their third or fourth grade at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.
Therefore, they were 8 or 9 years old on September 30, 2016. No exceptions.

Conquering the summit

Few people can brag that they have climbed all three of Mount Royal’s summits. Accomplish this challenge and deepen your knowledge of the flora and fauna that surround you.

  • Week 3 : July 10 to 14
  • Week 5 : July 24 to 28
  • Week 7 : August 7 to 11

The time travellers

Do you want to move and explore? Hike throughout the mountain’s territory while searching for signs of the past. Through daily expeditions, learn about Mount Royal’s palpating history.

  • Week 4 : July 17 to 21
