Équiterre Hosts its 2nd Annual “Changer le monde” Race

On May 27, the second edition of the eco-friendly race Changer le monde avec Équiterre will take place on the mountain.

Because Mount Royal is a Quebec Heritage Site, Équiterre is committed, for a second year, to hold this benefit event in full compliance with the regulations and values of the site. In addition to offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the race with Planetair, Équiterre will minimize the production of waste materials by:

  • Not distributing any water bottle
  • Not awarding medals or trophies
  • Using reusable chips and jerseys

Moreover, the1 km, 5 km and 10 km running routes have been carefully selected so as to not disturb or harm the mountain’s fauna and flora.

Les amis de la montagne’s conservation patrol will be on site to raise public awareness about Mount Royal’s environmental issues and the vulnerability of its environment. In exchange for the advisory role played by Les amis de la montagne in planning this event, Équiterre will donate a portion of race proceeds to its environmental stewardship and conservation activities.

Note that hosting such events in Mount Royal Park requires prior authorization from the City of Montréal.
