To celebrate Montréal’s 375th anniversary, Les amis de la montagne offers revamped discovery walks and a series of new walking tours specially created for the occasion.
Les amis de la montagne proposes nature and city treks for all tastes this summer. Rediscover the Mount Royal Cross, explore the mountain’s lesser known summits or admire the city from outstanding points of view. Here are six walking tours you won’t want to miss!

On Sundays, August 20, September 24 and October 15
To celebrate Montréal, this 15-km walk has been specially revisited to feature Mount Royal’s most stunning views. Learn about the ties linking the mountain and the city relative to its history, ecology, urban planning and architecture as you explore all three of the mountain’s summits. A complete tour that will you the big picture of the mountain! ($20)
On Saturdays, July 22 and August 12, and Sunday, October 29
Take part in a fascinating trek that follows the watercourses flowing from the mountain to Pointe-à-Callière for a unique glimpse at the historical and natural links between Mount Royal, the St. Lawrence River and Montréal. It’s also a great opportunity to discover the Promenade Fleuve-Montagne created for Montréal’s 375th anniversary. ($20)

Follow in the footsteps of Montréal’s founders in this amazing tour that takes you from the Kondiaronk Lookout on Mount Royal Summit to the Observation Deck Au Sommet Place Ville Marie. Discover parts of the new Promenade Fleuve-Montagne, one of Montréal’s 375th anniversary heritage projects, along the way. At the top of Au Sommet Place Ville Marie, experience breathtaking views of Montréal and enjoy the #MTLGO exhibition. ($22)
Saturdays, July 29 and August 26
Are you more of a nature lover than a history buff? In collaboration with Au Sommet Place Ville Marie, Les amis de la montagne invites you on a one-of-a-kind tour featuring the best views the city has to offer. After visiting the #MTLGO exhibition at Au Sommet Place Ville Marie, make your way up the mountain along the new Promenade Fleuve-Montagne to the Kondiaronk Lookout . You’ll learn about initiatives to green Montréal and see the city in a whole new light. ($22)
Looking for a happy hour that is out of the ordinary? Les amis de la montagne offers three 2-hour discovery walks that explore each of the three summits on the Mount Royal territory: Westmount Hill (September 29) ), Outremont Summit (July 28 and October 27) and Mount Royal Summit (August 11 and September 15) at 5:30 p.m. ($20). Make the pleasure last a little longer by grabbing a drink and a bite to eat at the Beaver Lake Pavilion after your tour.
Thursdays and Saturdays, until October 22
Looking for something to do with out-of-town guests? This 75-minute guided tour takes you along the mountain’s most beautiful paths and must-see sites, from the Kondiaronk Lookout to the Mount Royal Cross. Discover the history of the mountain and the city, from prehistoric times to today. Children are welcome! ($10 adults - $5 children)
