THE MOUNTAIN THROUGH A LENS

LAST CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS TO THE “LA MONTAGNE EN IMAGES” PHOTO CONTEST


The “La montagne en images” photo contest closes on September 22. Submit your best photos of the mountain following the contest categories. You might win a prize and have your photos exhibited in the Café des Amis at Maison Smith and on Les amis’ website.

GUIDED WALKS

THE THREE SUMMITS OF MONT ROYAL


Did you know that Mont Royal has three summits? Come and explore this exceptional territory with Les amis de la montagne on this unique 15km hike to discover the mountain’s history and rich heritage.


GUIDED VISITS OF THE BEAVER LAKE BASIN WORKSITE

To learn more about the restoration of the Beaver Lake basin in Mont-Royal Park, join the worksite visits presented by landscape architects from the Ville de Montréal.

Visit in French with Suzanne Rochon


Additionally, interpretive panels installed around the worksite allow visitors to independently discover the history of the site and the restoration project through colourful texts and photography.

GUIDED WALK AND CREATIVE LAND ART WORKSHOP


Guided by an artist, discover the collection of public art in Mont-Royal Park and then create your own watercolour and land art project in situ.

ARMAND VAILLANCOURT: FIRST-PERSON NARRATIVE OF THE “12 SCULPTURES IN NATURE”

Meet Québécois sculptor, Armand Vaillancourt, and participate in a guided stroll around the works presented in the first International Sculpture Symposium in North America, held at the Art Centre at Maison Smith between June 23 and August 15, 1964.


Also on the programme, a slide-show and the film projection of “La Forme des Choses,” directed by Jacques Giraldeau and produced by the National Film Board of Canada on the occasion of the Symposium.

EXHIBIT AND CREATIVE INK DRAWING WORKSHOP
