Les amis de la montagne inaugurate their new Internet platform and launch the interactive map, “Mount Royal, A Territory to Discover”

With the participation of Raymond Bachand, Member for Outremont, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Montreal region, Helen Fotopulos, Mayor of the Plateau-Mont-Royal Borough and member of the Executive Committee of the Ville de Montréal responsible for the environment, parks, green and blue spaces, Mount Royal and the status of women, Peter A. Howlett, C.M., President of Les Amis de la montagne and techno-animator "Capsulette", Les amis de la montagne held a press conference on October 3rd at Laïka restaurant-bar at which the interactive map, “Mount Royal, A Territory to Discover” was unveiled. After the inauguration, the media was invited to participate in a guided walking tour, an audio-video-podcast downloaded from the website.

Les amis’ new platform focuses on the discovery of the historic and natural heritage of the mountain through the innovative use of interactive technologies, providing interpretation of the unexpected and little known assets of the mountain, its makeup and its inhabitants.

This project, that meets the objectives of both sustainable development and sustainable tourism, was made possible by the ministry of Heritage Canada; the Ministère des Affaires municipales et des Régions; the Ville de Montréal and the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition feminine as part of the Entente pour le développement culturel de Montréal; and the expertise of our partners in technology, the companies SedNove and Lichen Communications. This project was also made possible by the invaluable support and collaboration of 16 institutional and association partners on Mount Royal, who contributed to the realization of the site.
