Towards the Sommet du Mont Royal in spring 2013
Maintaining visual links “from” and “to” Mount Royal in the face of rapid urban densification: the imperative to finding informed solutions
Mount Royal is the symbol of our collective identity and a significant landmark in the metropolis, a dominant landscape on the island of Montreal. Major real estate development in the downtown core and on institutional properties located on the flanks of the mountain have reduced the points of view between the mountain and the St. Lawrence River and are today, largely interrupted.
Is Mount Royal in the process of disappearing from the Montreal landscape? If yes, is it possible to intervene before it’s too late?
Our guests, Marie-Claude Robert, Executive Director of the Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec, Nicols Valois, Professor in the École d’architecture de paysage, Université de Montréal, Me Marc Laperrière, Gilbert Simard Tremblay Avocats, join other experts to share their analysis and best practices in the protection and enhancement of the visual links to and from Mount Royal.
