Montreal, January 29, 2013 – On Thursday, February 21, Les amis de la montagne invite the community to experience a night-time snowshoeing adventure on Mount Royal! This sporty, gastronomic evening contributes to the preservation of the mountain by raising funds in support of educational and conservation programs on Mount Royal.
The Tuques Bleues Celebration revives the nocturnal snowshoeing expeditions on the mountain by the Montreal Snowshoe Club, founded in 1840. This unique event in Montreal is sponsored by Manulife Financial as the principal partner, as part of the launch events of the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festivities. The event is ably co-chaired by Cyril Bendahan, Regional Vice President, Group Benefits, Manulife Financial and Michel Leblanc, President and CEO, Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
New features for this 16th edition!
Participants will be thrilled with the new 2.5km snowshoe trail that traverses the forest reaching the newly refurbished Mount Royal Cross. After the legendary race or more leisurely walk on snowshoes, graciously provided again this year by Tubbs Snowshoes and Atlas Snowshoes, participants will be able to celebrate and enjoy the magnificent Chalet du Mont-Royal.

The gastronomic buffet provided by La Guilde Culinaire will titillate the taste buds and feature a variety of local products, with many recipes prepared with items provided by event partners, such as ice cider from Domaine Pinnacle, Leffe, Hoegaarden and Alexander Keith’s beer from Labatt Breweries and Biobio cheeses from Gattuso.

The musical group MAZ will perform their toe-tapping rhythms in the warm ambiance of the Chalet. Nominated for the best instrumental album of the year by the 2012 Juno Awards, MAZ reinvents traditional music by mixing electric jazz to traditional Québécois styles. Their performance will be followed by a medal and trophy ceremony and a prize drawing offered by Tubbs Snowshoes, Atlas Snowshoes and Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth.
