WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND ON MOUNT ROYAL?

The mountain air is crisp and fresh, the perfect time of year to come and explore its beauty! If the early bird catches the worm, then the early riser catches sight of the bird! This Saturday, an ornithologist from Les amis de la montagne will guide you through the fern colonies of Mount Royal on the lookout for the Pileated Woodpecker. For something more physical, join us to cut invasive plants in the forest by becoming a volunteer for the Environmental Stewardship Program. On Sunday afternoon, join friends and family at the Chalet du Mont-Royal to listen to the outstanding Schulich School of Music Jazz Quartet. All are welcome and it’s free!

Activities include: a conference on the impact of the environment on our health, kiosks presented by environmental organizations, inventories of fauna and flora, bird-watching and bird-listening stations, a guided walk at night on the lookout for birds of prey and bats, a visit to the Université de Montréal’s beehives and Les amis de lamontage’s/SOVERDI’s educational tree nursery, the environmental assessment of pathways and the health of previously planted trees, and the planting of indigenous trees.

All activities are free, but you must register to participate: www.fjim.org
