What animals live on the mountain? Students will be able to answer this question after hiking through the forest. They awaken their senses by observing tracks and habitats to fully understand the role living creatures play in the forest of Mount Royal.

From the summit of the mountain to the shores of the St. Lawrence River, students travel through time, exploring the southern slope of Mount Royal and its rich 19th-century heritage before heading downtown for a glimpse of Montréal’s evolution over time. Les amis de la montagne provides skate rental services so that groups of students of all ages can take advantage of the refrigerated 2,500 m2 ice skating rink next to the Beaver Lake Pavilion. Security is ensured by monitors hired by the City of Montréal.

Introduction to Cross-Country Skiing

Les amis de la montagne offers groups of students a 2-hour introduction to cross-country skiing on the mountain. Accompanied by instructors certified by Ski de fond Québec, children learn basic cross-country skiing techniques while exploring and playing in the forest. Courses are offered during the week only, depending on snow conditions.

Cross-Country Ski Rentals for Groups

Pick up your cross-country skis and trail map at the Beaver Lake Pavilion before heading out on 22 km of marked trails on the mountain. Two adults must accompany each group of 15 skiers.
