Overview of our 2023 Environmental Stewardship Program

This year, our Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) was a success, thanks to:

  • the financial support of TD Bank Group, Rio Tinto Alcan, and the City of Montréal;
  • as well as the contributions of 959 devoted volunteers

Together, we have protected fragile ecosystems by controlling invasive species over of an area of 17,683 m²:

  • Common buckthorn: 3,005 m²
  • Dog-strangling vine: 2,664 m²
  • Ragweed: 12,014 m²

We have also planted 1,433 native trees and shrubs, thanks to the incredible dedication of our volunteers, who gave 2,241 hours of their precious time to saving the rich, but fragile ecosystems of Mount Royal.

Did you know? Created in 2007, our Environmental Stewardship Program enables us to leverage two core values: environmental conservations of Mount Royal, and engagement building and community involvement.

Your commitment is crucial to the conservation of our mountain. Thank you! If you’d like to volunteers to take care of the mountain with us, contact our Conservation Team at benevolat@lemontroyal.qc.ca.

See you next year!
