Mount Royal Clean-Up

For the first time since 2019, Les Amis de la montagne is happy to be able to, once again, hold the annual Mount Royal Clean-up, the event we all know and love that focuses on bringing people together, having fun and protecting the environment. This year, the Clean-Up will take place on two days and at two sites: Mount Royal Park on May 8 and Tiohtià:ke Otsira'kéhne Park, at the Outremont Summit, on May 29.
Mount Royal Clean-Up

This year, the Mount Royal Clean-Up, organized by Les Amis de la montagne with the support of the City of Montreal, is also supported by Rio Tinto. Spread over two days, the event will allow for some major spring cleaning in two of the mountain’s sectors. The first clean-up, on Sunday, May 8, will start at Smith House in Mount Royal Park and the second will take place on Sunday, May 29 in Tiohtià:ke Ostira’kéhne Park on Mount Royal’s Outremont Summit. On each clean-up day, some 150 citizens will arrive in the morning to collect garbage and recyclable materials from the mountain’s undergrowth. After working hard to help maintain and beautify Mount Royal from 9 a.m. to noon, the participants will be invited to enjoy the volunteers’ picnic offered by Les Amis de la montagne, along with activities for the whole family.

As always, with the help and support of a host of volunteers and participants, the event’s objectives are to reduce the amount of waste and garbage in Mount Royal Park’s woodlands and to increase community awareness of the issues surrounding the mountain’s conservation.
