Every year, as part of World Migratory Bird Day, bird and nature enthusiasts from around the world take part in an event called Global Big Day. Organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and eBird, this event encourages everyone to spend a day outdoors, celebrating the incredible diversity of birdlife.

Experience level: For bird lovers with basic ornithological knowledge.

Please note this activity is offered in French, but questions in English are welcome.

Meeting point: In front of the Smith House, 1260 Remembrance Road, Montreal, Quebec, H3H 1A2

8 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.

Material and participation criteria:

  • A limited number of binoculars will be available on-site.
  • The minimum age to participate in this activity is 14 years old.

Weather:

  • To ensure everyone's safety, we monitor the weather in the days leading up to the activity. If adverse weather conditions are forecast 24 hours before the event, it will be cancelled. An email will be sent to notify you.

Cancellation of the activity:

The activity will be cancelled in the event of:

  • Thunderstorms
  • Winds and/or gusts over 60 km/h
  • Heat index above 38°C
  • Air quality index over 100
