For francization groups: Walking to the Summit

For francization groups: Walking to the Summit

From spring to fall, Les Amis offers a walking tour around the summit of Mount Royal for francization groups. The tour allows participants to explore the forests of Mount Royal Park and discover fauna and flora, while also learning about the history of the mountain and the city. Magnificent views provide a unique perspective on Montreal and its evolution over time. This activity is geared towards learners with an intermediate-level knowledge of French.

Our pedagogical approach involves a rich array of images and visual materials, observation and exploration of the environment, and association games, as well as group discussions. Participants will learn about the natural and cultural heritage of Mount Royal through a stimulating, immersive experience in an exceptional natural setting.

This activity facilitates the integration process of new arrivals by increasing the participants’ knowledge of the following topics (included in the Québec Government’s 2015 Programme d’études Francisation):

  • Rules of conduct in parks
  • Québec history
  • Cultural organizations (Les Amis de la montagne)

Start and end point: Smith House, 1260 Chemin Remembrance, Montréal, QC, H3H 1A2

  • Please note: The toilets at Smith House are closed to the public.

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Distance: 3 km

  • Level of course: Intermediate (forest trails, easy gradients)

  • Rates: Upon request
