Invasive species control: Dog-strangling vine

This activity consists of manually uprooting dog-strangling vine, a problematic species for biodiversity.
Invasive species control: Dog-strangling vine

Native to Eurasia, this invasive plant can produce over 2,000 seeds per square metre and has spread throughout the woodlands of Mount Royal. Its ability to smother surrounding vegetation and disrupt monarch butterfly reproduction makes it a serious ecological threat. That’s why Les Amis de la montagne are actively working to limit its spread. Join us to learn more about dog-strangling vine, the rich floral diversity it endangers, and how you can help control its presence on the mountain!
