Invasive species control: Dog-strangling vine

This activity consists of manually uprooting dog-strangling vine, a problematic species for biodiversity.
Invasive species control: Dog-strangling vine

Native to Eurasia, this plant is capable of producing over 2,000 seeds per m2 and has spread through the mountain’s woodlands. Given its tendency to smother surrounding vegetation and disrupt monarch butterfly reproduction, Les amis de la montagne are actively involved in limiting its propagation. Join us to learn more about dog-strangling vine as well as the rich floral diversity it threatens, and help control its spread on Mount Royal!
