Mount Royal Summit Discovery Walk

Take a tour of the summit of Mount Royal Park and discover its fauna, flora, viewpoints, monuments and history.

Mount Royal Summit Discovery Walk

From spring to fall, we offer our “Mount Royal Summit Discovery Walk” to francization groups. The excursion, which is geared to learners with an intermediate-level knowledge of French, provides an experience in which the group explores the mountain’s summit and learns about its fauna, flora and history. Magnificent views provide a unique look at the city and its evolution over time.

The pedagogical approach includes:

  • Using a rich array of images and iconographical materials
  • Observing and exploring the environment
  • Playing matching games
  • Asking questions, having group discussions and listening to others

Learners will thus increase their knowledge of Mount Royal’s natural and cultural heritage and enjoy a stimulating immersive experience in an exceptional natural environment.

This activity gives francization groups the opportunity to discover Mount Royal and contributes to the students’ integration process by enabling them to learn about the following (included in the Québec Government’s 2015 Programme d’études Francisation):

  • Rules of conduct applicable in parks
  • Quebec history
  • Cultural organizations (Les Amis de la montagne)
