Towards Participatory Governance in Montréal Parks

Last November, citizens, municipal planners, park advocacy groups and various other organizations came together at a workshop on participatory governance in parks. Dr. Jonathan Cha, senior development advisor for Parc Jean-Drapeau, was invited as a guest speaker to share his vision of participatory governance and why it is needed to ensure public appropriation of Montréal parks.

The diversity of the players represented at the workshop made it possible to identify the challenges they face from various perspectives. The input provided by Dr. Pauline Wolff, researcher and public space appropriation initiatives specialist at CÉRSÉ, contributed to the creation of an educational tool designed for key players who work with parks. The tool provides guidelines for developing and maintaining successful collaboration within partnerships established for parks.

Consult the tool for tips on how to develop successful partnerships !
