Activity description

The University of Montreal Ephemeral Projects site is home to our educational plant nursery. With the aim of revegetating Mount Royal with plants that preserve the mountain's genetics, seeds are harvested in the fall, then germinated in Montreal elementary classrooms. All plants are then transferred to the MIL campus to be nurtured until they are large enough to be planted.

As a volunteer, you'll be involved in a wide range of activities, including:

  • Weeding potted trees
  • Potting young trees
  • Propagating shrubs with cuttings
  • Watering plants

Come and put your gardening skills to good use!

Required materials:

  • Gloves and knee pads will be provided.
  • Closed shoes are mandatory.
  • There is very little shade on the MIL campus site. We strongly recommend that you wear a hat and bring a bottle of water. There is no drinking water on site, but you can refill your bottles in a nearby building.

Weather:

To ensure everyone's safety, we monitor the weather in the days leading up to the activity. Should adverse weather conditions be forecast 24 hours before the activity, it will be cancelled. An email will be sent to inform you.
