Les amis de la montagne, Héritage Montréal, the Ordre des urbanistes, CRE MTL and the Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec have joined forces to reiterate that the iconic presence of the mountain as a visual and identity marker is - and must remain - non-negotiable.
A broad consensus in this regard has been forged over time and was reinforced more recently by a citizen mobilization of more than 33,000 voices expressing their wish to see the mountain and its civic and institutional heritage inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The constant renewal of this commitment to the mountain should be a formality and a strong signal for the continued improvement of our tools and measures to protect Mount Royal, practices, not just another election issue.
