Proceeds go to Les amis de la montagne’s environmental  conservation programs on Mount Royal

The 21st edition of the Tuques Bleues benefit event brought together close to 400 snowshoers on a snow-laden Mount Royal last Thursday evening, February 15. Presented by Manulife for a 9th consecutive year, the event raised more than $150,000 in support of Les amis de la montagne’s environmental conservation programs on Mount Royal.
Inspired by the treks of the 19th century Montreal Snowshoe Club, this exceptional outdoor event combined an athletic climb up Mount Royal, followed by fine food, music and entertainment in the majestic Mount Royal Chalet. The participants enjoyed a full evening of entertainment featuring the electro traditional duo of DJ Doro and guitarist Jean-Sébastien Neault and a percussion show by Barantaga. Door prizes included Tubbs Snowshoes and Atlas Snowshoes, partners of the event since its very first edition, and Kiehl’s gift baskets.
Once again this year, the Tuques Bleues Celebration was held under the honorary co-chairmanship of Robert Tellier, Regional Vice-President, Group Benefits and Retirement Solutions at Manulife, and Michel Leblanc, President & CEO of The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. Medals and the trophy were awarded by the honorary co-chairmanship as follows:

Snowshoe Race Winners – Women
Gold – Sarah Christiani, 15 m. 25 s.
Silver – Lindsay Slater, 16 m. 5 s.
Bronze – Melanie Meslin, 17 m. 55 s.
Snowshoe Race Winners – Men
Gold – Clement Coste, 12 m 2 s.
Silver – Guillaume Laganiere, 12 m. 11 s.
Bronze – Chris Blanchard, 12 m. 39 s.

Team Challenge – Tuques Bleues Trophy

Fourteen companies participated as Défi Équipes Partners competing for the Tuques Bleues Trophy: 3Macs MacDougall, MacDougall & MacTier, A division of Raymond James, Ben-Jac Capital Inc., City of Montréal, DNA Capital, Fednav Limited, Manulife, Pembroke Management Ltd, Presima, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, Revision Military, Roma Foods, Samcon Inc., TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and Woods L.L.P. For a third consecutive year, Presima won the Tuques Bleues Trophy with the best combined time for their top three racers of 42 m. 12s., and an average race time of 14 m. 4 s. per runner.
