Conference: Olmsted and Mount Royal Park, Past and Present

24 mai

On May 24th, the very day that marks the 146th anniversary of Mount Royal Park, Les Amis de la montagne will hold a conference focusing on the heritage of this exceptional park designed by visionary landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The conference will take place at the Cité-des-Hospitalières.

Conference: Olmsted and Mount Royal Park, Past and Present

To be held both online and in person, the Olmsted and Mount Royal Park, Past and Present conference will examine the ways in which Frederick Law Olmsted’s forward-looking, democratic vision still guides us in our efforts to create safe, inclusive public parks that play a key role in supporting the health and resilience of individuals and communities. The event will also focus on Olmsted’s masterwork in Montreal, Mount Royal Park. Lastly, the conference will give us the opportunity to highlight the importance of aspiring to the highest standards of recognition and protection of Mount Royal, and to reiterate the community’s long-standing commitment to secure UNESCO recognition for Mount Royal as a World Heritage Site.

Those who cannot be present on site may attend remotely. The conference will be interpreted simultaneously in English and French.
