Montréal, le 22 août 2019 – Les amis de la montagne annoncent le lancement de la 4e édition du programme l’École de la forêt, qui débutera cet automne sur le mont Royal. Inspiré du mouvement mondial Forest School, ce programme s’appuie sur les conclusions d’une série d’études scientifiques démontrant le lien direct entre la santé mentale et physique des individus et leur fréquentation des milieux naturels durant l’enfance. L’École de la forêt vise à accroître l’accès à la nature en milieu urbain pour le plus grand nombre d’enfants âgés de 0 à 12 ans de la métropole.

Montréal, June 17, 2019 – Under glorious blue skies, close to 400 guests attended Les amis de la montagne’s benefit luncheon Chapeau Mont Royal! last June 12. The 6th edition of this elegant event was chaired by Édith Cloutier, President of Rogers Quebec, and supported by a host of key partners. Thanks to the generous support of Montrealers and the profits of a silent auction, this year's event raised $200,000 for youth educational programs on Mount Royal.

Montréal, May 29, 2019 – Les amis de la montagne commends the efforts announced by the City of Montréal this morning to deploy temporary measures on the Remembrance / Camillien-Houde axis. The proposed transitional measures are intended to enhance safety and reduce vehicular traffic, reflecting concerns voiced by Les amis de la montagne and conclusions of the recent report published by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal.

Howlett, C.M., had the pleasure of awarding the Prix du Mont-Royal 2019 to Sylvie Guilbault in recognition of her career dedicated to the protection and improvement of Mount Royal.

The Camillien Houde/Remembrance Pilot Project Is Off to a Start

Saturday, June 2 signals the start of the City of Montréal’s pilot project interrupting car transit traffic on the Camillien-Houde/Remembrance axis. This project will run until October 31, 2018.

Les amis de la montagne announced the launch of We love the Mountain. Let’s support UNESCO status for Mount Royal, a citizen mobilization campaign that allows those who love the mountain and recognize its exceptional value to sign a letter of support at  www.montroyalUNESCO.ca. The purpose of this campaign is to support Mount Royal’s bid to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Over 400 Snowshoers including 75 Runners Attend 20th Edition of the Tuques Bleues Fundraiser!

The 20th edition of the Tuques Bleues benefit event brought together close to 400 snowshoers and 75 runners on a snow-laden Mount Royal last Thursday evening, February 16. Presented by Manulife for an 8th consecutive year, and featured this year again as part of Montréal en lumière festivities, the event raised $145,000 in support of Les amis de la montagne’s environmental conservation programmes on Mount Royal.
